two days in Utah, riding from from Duchesne to Provo. Climbed the pass out of Duchesne with a broken freewheel, bike fixed in Heber City, then flew down the canyon to Provo. Beautiful country, did it on Pioneer Days, big Mormon holiday. Thought it interesting that my path across the country had roughly paralleled Joseph Smith's original trek.

Well today I got religion climbing to The Strawberry Lakes
out of the Uintah Basin up into the Utah peaks
and the locals they are fishing, left their pick-ups in the sun
and the kokanee are hitting, hoping to catch the big one
and its a high Mormon holiday

but the pass down into Heber, it was worth the price
and the boys at Brother's Bike Shop they aren't quite sure what to think

power boats and private planes, oil trucks crowding my lane, I'm riding on these Pioneer Days

So I book it down to Provo, dodging RVs, trucks and boats,
while the canyon looms above me , puts my heart back in my throat
here's where Brigham Young set out to inculcate the youth
whatever you may think about it, out here it's the truth
and it's a high Mormon holiday

Well it seems like an oasis, those high cool peaks I left
'cause down here in the desert it gets hard to catch your breath
but it's a high Mormon Holiday

Procreate and recreate, worshipping those golden plates
while the pioneers await to receive us on some high holy day
